Professor Ju-Won Oh Selected as Young Scientist Visiting Scholar at Tongji University, China

[Shanghai=GeoVis] Professor Ju-Won Oh of the Computational Geophysics Lab of Jeonbuk National University (JBCGL) announced on the 13th that he has been selected for the Young Scientist Visiting Scholar program at the State Key Laboratory of Marine Geology, Tongji University, China.

Professor Ju-Won Oh conducted visiting research at Tongji University for approximately two months, from June 19 to August 16, 2019, with support for round-trip airfare and living expenses. During this period, he conducted international collaborative research on East China Sea seabed seismic survey data with Professor Jiubing Cheng.

The State Key Laboratory of Marine Geology at Tongji University is a leading institution in marine geoscience research in China, and it has achieved world-class results, particularly in the study of seabed geological structures in the East China Sea and South China Sea.

In this visiting research, the analysis of the geological structure of the East China Sea continental shelf using seabed seismic exploration techniques was the main research topic. In particular, it focused on developing high-resolution imaging technology considering complex seabed topography and sedimentary environments.

The Young Scientist Visiting Scholar program is operated by Tongji University to promote academic exchange through collaborative research by inviting young researchers of international caliber.

Professor Ju-Won Oh stated, "It was a valuable opportunity to collaborate with Chinese researchers in the excellent research environment of Tongji University." He added, "We were able to achieve meaningful results that contribute to the development of seabed seismic exploration technology."
