Professor Ju-Won Oh Publishes Full-Waveform Inversion Paper in Geophysics Journal
[Jeonju=GeoVis] Professor Ju-Won Oh of the Computational Geophysics Lab of Jeonbuk National University (JBCGL) announced on the 9th that he has published a research paper on full-waveform inversion techniques in Geophysics, a top-tier journal in the field of geophysics.
The paper, titled 'Diffraction-angle filtering of gradient for acoustic full-waveform inversion', was published in the March 2021 issue. This research was conducted through international collaborative research with Tongji University in China and Seoul National University.
The research team developed a diffraction-angle filtering technique for gradients in acoustic full-waveform inversion, achieving improved imaging performance compared to existing methods. This technique is considered an innovative methodology that can significantly improve the accuracy of subsurface imaging.
Geophysics is a leading journal in the field of geophysics published by the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), and it is one of the most influential journals in the field.
Professor Ju-Won Oh stated, "Through this paper, we were able to present new possibilities for the full-waveform inversion technique." He added, "I will continue to contribute to the development of geophysical exploration technology through international collaborative research."
