Geophysics Computing Lab Selected for Energy Human Resources Development Project (Energy New Industry Global)

[Jeonju=GeoVis] The Geophysics Computing Lab at Jeonbuk National University announced that it has been selected for the Energy Human Resources Development Project (Energy New Industry Global) by the Korea Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning.

The selected project is titled 'Fostering Global Innovative Talent in Geophysical Exploration and Monitoring', and it will receive a total of 380 million won in research funding from April 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024.

Through this project, five master's and doctoral students will be selected and supported for long-term overseas dispatch for more than 6 months. Overseas dispatch personnel will receive 100% of their personnel expenses (2.2 million won for master's students, 3 million won for doctoral students) and separate overseas dispatch expenses (airfare, visa preparation fees, and monthly living expenses of around 2.2 million won).

USA (Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory - MIT Linkage): Microseismic monitoring demonstration research for the Utah FORGE geothermal project Canada (University of Calgary): Borehole monitoring demonstration research for the CaMI CCS project in Canada Australia (Curtin University): Borehole monitoring demonstration research for the Otway CCS project in Australia Norway (Norwegian University of Science and Technology - Norwegian Geotechnical Institute): Integrated monitoring demonstration research for the Sleipner CCS project in Norway Saudi Arabia (KAUST): Development of high-performance computing/deep learning-based seismic data processing technology
