PhD Candidate Sea-Eun Park Presents Research on DAS-Geophone Hybrid System at AGU Conference

[San Francisco=GeoVis] Sea-Eun Park, a PhD candidate researcher at the Computational Geophysics Lab of Jeonbuk National University (JBCGL), announced on the 16th that she presented her research findings using an innovative DAS-geophone hybrid system at the 2023 AGU Conference.

On December 14th, Sea-Eun Park gave a poster presentation on 'P-wave travel-time tomography using active borehole seismic data acquired using a hybrid DAS-geophone system at the Utah FORGE EGS site'.

This research is about P-wave travel-time tomography using active borehole seismic data acquired with a hybrid system combining DAS (Distributed Acoustic Sensing) and geophones at the Utah FORGE EGS demonstration site in the United States.

The DAS-geophone hybrid system is attracting attention as a next-generation technology that overcomes the limitations of existing single sensors and enables more precise and extensive subsurface imaging. In particular, it demonstrated excellent performance in analyzing subsurface structures for geothermal development.

AGU 2023, held in San Francisco, USA, from December 11th to 15th, was attended by over 25,000 earth science researchers from around the world, who shared their latest research findings.

Sea-Eun Park, who is currently conducting long-term dispatch research at NGI in Norway, stated, "It was a valuable opportunity to interact with world-renowned researchers from various fields and gain new research ideas." She added, "It is very meaningful to have the potential of the hybrid sensor system recognized on the international stage."
