Master's Student Hyun-Wook Jo Presents 4D Full-Waveform Inversion Research at CRGC Annual Meeting

[Perth=GeoVis] Hyun-Wook Jo, a master's student researcher at the Computational Geophysics Lab of Jeonbuk National University (JBCGL), announced on the 13th that he presented his research findings at the 2023 CRGC Annual Meeting.

On December 6th, Hyun-Wook Jo presented on '4D full waveform inversion of Otway walk-away VSP data'. This research is about 4D full-waveform inversion techniques using VSP (Vertical Seismic Profiling) data acquired from the Otway CCS demonstration site in Australia.

The CRGC (Curtin Reservoir Geophysics Consortium) Annual Meeting is a prestigious academic event attended by the Curtin University CEG research team and major energy companies such as Woodside Energy, Chevron, CO2CRC, Beach Energy, Santos, Aramco, China Sinopec, and SILIXA.

The meeting, held in Perth, Australia, from December 5th to 7th, focused on discussing the latest research trends and technical issues in reservoir geophysics. In particular, practical research achievements related to CCS project monitoring technology received attention.

Hyun-Wook Jo's presentation was evaluated as proposing an innovative methodology for precisely tracking changes in underground reservoirs over time using 4D monitoring techniques.

Hyun-Wook Jo, who is currently conducting long-term dispatch research at Curtin University in Australia, stated, "It was a valuable opportunity to directly communicate with global energy companies and explore practical research directions."
