Master's Student Ji Hyeonggeun Successfully Completes Research Dispatch at LBNL, USA, and Returns Home

[Berkeley=GeoVis] Ji Hyeonggeun, a master's student at the Geophysics Computing Lab of Jeonbuk National University, has successfully completed his international collaborative research at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) in the United States and returned home.

From April 25 to May 31, 2024, Ji Hyeonggeun stayed at LBNL and, with funding from Dr. Nori Nakata, constructed a 2D S-wave velocity model by performing S-wave Travel Time Tomography using walk-away VSP (Vertical Seismic Profiling) data acquired from the Utah FORGE project in the United States.

This dispatch provided Ji Hyeonggeun with valuable international research experience and an important opportunity to acquire the latest technologies in the field of geophysics. Ji Hyeonggeun expressed his gratitude, saying, "I would like to thank everyone at LBNL who helped me."

Professor Ju-Won Oh emphasized, "Ji Hyeonggeun's dispatch to LBNL will strengthen our lab's international research capabilities and serve as an important stepping stone for students to grow into global experts."
