Geophysics Computing Lab Attends 2024 KCCUS-Korea Climate Change Spring Conference

[Jeju=GeoVis] The Geophysics Computing Lab at Jeonbuk National University announced on the 28th that it attended the 2024 Korea CCUS Promotion Group-Korea Energy and Climate Change Society Spring Joint Conference and presented its latest research findings.

The conference was held from May 28th to 30th at the Hondimoang Building of the Jeju Global Research Center, Korea Institute of Energy Research, in Jeju City.

Professor Ju-Won Oh gave an oral presentation on the topic of 'Current Status of Overseas CCS Project Demonstration and Strategies for Promoting International Joint Research', and also presented a poster on 'Global Human Resources Development Project for Innovation in Smart CO2 Storage Operation through Convergence of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Twin'.

PhD candidate Sea-Eun Park gave a poster presentation on the topic of 'Development of Integrated Geophysical Monitoring Technology through Seismic Velocity and Electrical Resistivity Model Construction: Application to the Sleipner CCS Project'.

This conference was an important venue for discussing the latest trends in CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage) technology and strategies for responding to climate change. In particular, domestic and international experts gathered to explore technological and policy measures for transitioning to a carbon-neutral society.

A lab official stated, "Through participation in this conference, we were able to reconfirm our lab's research capabilities in CCUS technology." They added, "We will continue to conduct practical research that contributes to achieving carbon neutrality in the future."
