Master's Student Hyun-Wook Jo Begins Long-Term Research Dispatch at NGI, Norway

[Oslo=GeoVis] Hyun-Wook Jo, a master's student at the Geophysics Computing Lab of Jeonbuk National University, has departed for a long-term research dispatch with the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI).

This dispatch is part of the 'Digital Global Research Talent Nurturing Project' by the Korea Institute of Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP). Hyun-Wook Jo will stay at NGI from July 25 to December 21, 2024, to conduct research. He plans to conduct collaborative research on CO2 site characterization using Full Waveform Inversion (FWI) on Norwegian North Sea data with Dr. Joonsang Park of NGI.

This long-term dispatch is expected to provide Hyun-Wook Jo with international research experience and a significant opportunity to deepen his expertise in CO2 geological storage technology.

Professor Ju-Won Oh emphasized, "Hyun-Wook Jo's dispatch will strengthen our lab's international research capabilities and serve as an important stepping stone for students to grow into global experts." He added, "We will continue to expand such international cooperation opportunities in the future."
