Geophysics Computing Lab Wins Excellence Award at University Innovation Support Project Convergence Competition

[Jeonju=GeoVis] Hyeonggeun Ji, Hyun-Wook Jo, and Yun-Ha Jung from the Computational Geophysics Lab of Jeonbuk National University (JBCGL), along with Kim Kyungmin, Kim Daehwan, and Na Dongjun from the Department of Civil Engineering, formed a team and won an Excellence Award at the University Innovation Support Project Convergence Competition held at the College of Engineering, Jeonbuk National University.

The 'Big Pi' team participated in the competition with the theme of developing a portable Raspberry Pi seismometer and successfully compared the performance of the developed portable Raspberry Pi seismometer with existing geophones.

This competition, as part of the University Innovation Support Project, provided an opportunity for students from various majors to discover and realize creative ideas through convergence research. In particular, it focused on developing technologies that can contribute to solving real-life problems.

A lab official stated, "We are very proud that the students voluntarily formed teams and created excellent results by converging knowledge from different majors." They added, "We will continue to strive to foster talents needed for the future society through such convergence research."
