PhD Candidate Sea-Eun Park Successfully Completes 16th IEAGHG International CCS Summer School

[Darwin=GeoVis] Sea-Eun Park, a PhD candidate at the Geophysics Computing Lab of Jeonbuk National University, successfully completed the "16th IEAGHG International CCS Summer School" program held in Darwin, Australia, from June 22nd to 28th, and has returned home.

This program selects 45 emerging researchers at the master's and doctoral levels from science, social, and economic fields worldwide, providing education on specialized knowledge, policies, and current status related to Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technology. It also supports participants and world-leading experts in discussing their respective research areas and building networks.

In addition to attending specialized lectures, Sea-Eun Park participated in various supplementary activities during this program, including a visit to INPEX's Ichthys LNG Field, training on borehole plumbing diagrams, and understanding CCS underground storage site monitoring strategies through a monitoring game. On the last day of the program, she presented her week-long preparation on the topic of "How could Australia set up regionally integrated CCS clusters and hubs?" through a group activity, demonstrating her practical problem-solving abilities.

Sea-Eun Park stated, "The IEAGHG International CCS Summer School program was a very valuable time for me to broaden my horizons not only in the field of CCS underground storage but also in various other areas such as capture, policy, regulation, and utilization." She added, "Based on the network I built with various experts and the specialized knowledge I gained, I want to take on more challenges."

Professor Ju-Won Oh stated, "Sea-Eun Park's completion of this program will strengthen our lab's international research capabilities and serve as an important stepping stone for students to grow into global leaders." He added, "We will continue to expand such international cooperation opportunities in the future."
