Geophysics Computing Lab Attends GHGT-17 Conference and Shares Latest Technology Trends

[Calgary=GeoVis] Professor Ju-Won Oh and PhD candidate Sea-Eun Park from the Computational Geophysics Lab of Jeonbuk National University (JBCGL) announced on the 11th that they attended the GHGT-17 (The 17th Greenhouse Gas Control Technologies) conference held at the TELUS Convention Centre Calgary in Calgary, Canada, from August 21st to 24th, 2024, and presented their latest research findings.

At this conference, the research team gathered the latest technology trends by attending oral presentations by various researchers, including Professor Kris Innanen, an international collaborative researcher from the University of Calgary in Canada. The Geophysics Computing Lab conducted one poster presentation as follows:

Presentation Title: Sea-Eun Park, Joonsang Park, Malte Voge, Alexey Stovas, and Ju-Won Oh, Joint interpretation of seismic and electromagnetic data for CO2 monitoring using 3D FWI and 2D CSEM inversion techniques: Sleipner CCS site in Norway, GHGT-17, Calgary (Poster presentation, Presenter: Sea-Eun Park).

In addition, through this business trip to Calgary, they visited the University of Calgary in Canada and had a meeting with master's student Young-Ju Lee, who is currently conducting dispatch research, Professor Jung-Woo Kim, the collaborative research advisor at the University of Calgary, and graduate students from Professor Jung-Woo Kim's lab to share research progress.

Professor Ju-Won Oh stated, "Through attending this GHGT-17 conference, I was able to grasp the latest CCS technology trends and expand my international research network." He added, "I will continue to conduct research that contributes to achieving carbon neutrality."
