Undergraduate Student Cho Min-gyu Successfully Completes Research Dispatch to Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI)
[Oslo=GeoVis] Cho Min-gyu, an undergraduate student at Jeonbuk National University's Computational Geophysics Lab (JBCGL), successfully completed his research dispatch to the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) as part of the Honam Region CCUS Innovation Talent Nurturing Program for greenhouse gas reduction, returning to Korea on February 15, 2025.
From January 18, 2025, for approximately one month, Cho Min-gyu was dispatched to NGI to intensively conduct research on finite element discretization for Marine Controlled-Source Electromagnetic (CSEM) technology. In particular, through this research, he achieved a significant outcome by deeply analyzing the correlation between skin-depth and the accuracy of the finite element method, clearly identifying the skin-depth at which errors begin to occur.
This research is expected to contribute to enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of CSEM technology, which is essential for marine resource exploration and subsea geological structure analysis. Cho Min-gyu's research findings will serve as important foundational data for future academic advancements in related fields.

The Computational Geophysics Lab (JBCGL) plans to continuously expand various overseas dispatch and collaborative programs to enable students to cultivate international research capabilities and acquire the latest technological trends.
