Special Applications Department

Special Applications addresses fields that push past the conventional boundaries of geoscience โ€” forensic geology, archaeological geophysics, and planetary exploration. Students undertake interdisciplinary projects that apply simulation-based geoscience techniques to disparate problems in cultural heritage, forensics, space exploration, buried-object detection, and infrastructure monitoring. Unbound from any single industry track, graduates forge their own path, creatively reconfiguring geoscience methodology for settings ranging from cultural heritage survey to space exploration support.
