Marine Geology & Geophysics Department

The Marine Geology & Geophysics Department covers seafloor geology and geophysics, including mid-ocean-ridge systems and submarine geomorphology. Students combine hands-on remapping and reinterpretation of existing observational data with plate-tectonic simulation to reconstruct ocean-basin evolution themselves, graduating having completed, on their own, the integration of seafloor-data interpretation with plate-tectonic modeling.
